Frequently Asked Questions - How does MailUp affect your business?
Is a double opt-in subscription model supported?
Yes, it's an integral part of MailUp (it is required by law in many countries).
Double opt-in is a way for customers to protect themselves against junk mail (Spam). Users who decides to subscribe to one or more newsletters on your Web site receive a confirmation e-mail asking them to confirm the subscription preferences. By simply clicking on a link in the confirmation message, they will at the same time confirm their request and confirm to the system that they e-mail address that they had originally entered is indeed valid.
This approach helps the customer (they only receive the messages they want), helps you (your lists are clean), and fully complies with e-mail marketing best practices. It might also be required by your country's laws on privacy protection. Of course, the subscription confirmation message can be fully personalized in your MailUp console.
What information should I obtain from my subscribers?
It's up to you. You could just have them sign up for an e-mail newsletter with their e-mail account, or collect (or import) more information so that you can later filter your customers using that data. For example, if you knew their State/Province, you could then filter your customers geographically using that field.
Who owns the data in the MailUp database?
All data gathered through the MailUp system will be safely stored on our servers, in compliance with privacy laws. No customer data is ever shared with anyone. The data remains property of you, our customers. If you want to discontinue your MailUp subscription, all data will be forwarded to you and then deleted from our records.
Does NWEB ever sell, rent, or provide contact information to any third party?
No, we will never make information stored in your MailUp console available to anyone else.
How do we guarantee the security of data and information of our contacts?
The servers where MailUp is hosted are located in a secure, state-of-the-art data center, which employs all of the necessary security systems: firewall and updated antiviral applications, constant monitoring, anti-intrusion systems, certified-password access, etc. The data center is located in Northern Italy and is fully compliant with the strict Italian law on the protection of consumer privacy.
Do I need a technician in my company to activate the service?
No, we will activate MailUp for you. You will simply receive an e-mail with access to your MailUp console. There is nothing to install as MailUp is a hosted service. The MailUp console can be accessed with your Web browser.
What should change on my Internet site when using MailUp?
The only thing you need to do is to add a newsletter subscription form to one or more pages. You can find the necessary HTML code in your MailUp console. The sign up form can be fully customized.
Can I import contacts into MailUp?
Yes, you can easily import data in a variety of formats, and you don't have to worry about duplicate contacts: MailUp does not allow duplicates. For example, if a contact already existed and had unsubscribed and you import it again, MailUp will not import it and will not change the contact's status (unless you force the system to do so: there is an option for that too).
Do I need to change Web host if I use MailUp?
Absolutely not. MailUp is a hosted solution: there is nothing to install. Which also means that there are no Web server requirements to meet. The only modification that you would ever make to your Web site is to add a newsletter sign-up form. You can find the code in your MailUp console.
